CANTON, MISSISSIPPI (By Renee Cotton, April 18, 2012) - Bobby Cumberland has joined the staff of Madison River Oaks Medical Center as the Director of Volunteer Services. In his new position, Cumberland is responsible for managing and coordinating Madison River Oaks’ Volunteer Department and programs. He also will act as a liaison between the community and as the support system to the hospital's volunteers.
"My goals as the new manager of Volunteer Services are to evaluate the needs of our patients and our staff and to understand community needs as they relate to health care,” said Cumberland. "Our volunteers will serve as a support system to the entire hospital and enhance any departments or programs that need support.”
Glen Silverman, CEO of Madison River Oaks, said the organization of this vital program will mark an important development in the hospital’s goal of providing excellent customer service to patients and visitors. “Establishing a volunteer program has been one of our goals since we opened last year,” Silverman said. “We anticipate great things in this important area under Bobby’s leadership.”
Cumberland is trained in medical business and staff development, program expansion, dealing with grieving families at the time of death, and public and professional speaking. Additionally, he worked as Executive Director of Organ and Tissue Procurement and Donation in Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Maastricht The Netherlands and Kuwait.
